Change or remove the card

MashNote takes payment by card only, through Toss Payments. Each workspace has one registered card, which you can see and change under Payment method in the Billing tab.

Open your avatar at the bottom of the navigation rail (Account menu) → the gear on the workspace’s row ({name} settings) → Workspace settings → Billing tab. There is no direct URL, and guests have no gear.

The Payment method section appears only after a card is registered. It shows the card company and a partly hidden card number; if that information isn’t available, it shows Card on file.

  • You first register a card in the subscribe dialog that opens when you upgrade. There is no separate “add card” button. See Upgrade and add a card.
  • Members can also see the registered card (with the number partly hidden), but only owners and admins can use Change card and Remove card. For members, the buttons are disabled and the message Only owners or admins can change billing. is shown.
  1. Under Payment method, select Change card.
  2. In the Toss Payments secure window, register the new card.
  3. Back on MashNote’s Card registration page, when you see Card registered, select Open billing settings to return to the Billing tab.

The new card replaces the old one. Future renewals and seat purchases are charged to the new card. For messages you may see if registration fails, see If card registration or payment fails.

  1. Under Payment method, select Remove card.
  2. When the dialog asks Remove the registered card? You can register one again anytime., select Remove card. To stop, select Go back.
  3. You’re done when you see Card removed.

If a subscription is active and no cancellation is scheduled, you can’t remove the card, because renewals always need a card to charge. You see this message:

The payment method can’t be removed while a subscription is active. Cancel the subscription first.

  • If you just want to use a different card, use Change card instead of removing it.
  • If you really need to remove the card, cancel the subscription first. Once a cancellation is scheduled, you can remove the card.
