Slack integration

When you connect Slack, AI can summarize a Slack thread and record it as MashNote activity. The MashNote app doesn’t keep reading your channels; it fetches only the threads you ask for with the shortcut or an @MashNote mention.

Before you start: two connections

To log threads, both of these must be connected:

The person logging must also be a member of the MashNote workspace connected to Slack.

1. Install the Slack app

Open Workspace settings → Integrations. The Slack card says Captures Slack messages into this workspace.
Select Connect Slack. You go to Slack’s permission screen.
Check the Slack workspace to install to and approve.
Back in MashNote, the Slack card shows the Slack workspace name and Connected.

One Slack workspace is connected to one MashNote workspace to record into. Every thread logged from that Slack workspace goes to the MashNote workspace connected here.

2. Link your Slack account

In Personal settings → Integrations, expand the Slack card.
Select Authenticate with Slack and sign in on Slack.
Back in MashNote, the card shows {name} · connected.

This link only tells MashNote who you are within that Slack workspace. Installing the Slack app is done separately in Workspace settings, above.

Log a thread

The MashNote app must be in the channel you want to log from. If it isn’t, invite it first in Slack with /invite @MashNote.

Log with the message shortcut

In Slack, hover over a message in the thread you want to log and choose the MashNote shortcut from the message menu.
The MashNote에 기록 (“Log to MashNote”) dialog opens. If there’s context the summary should reflect, write it in the 메모 (선택) (“Memo (optional)”) field.
Select 기록 (“Log”).
Shortly after, the MashNote app sends you the result as a Slack DM. On success you get 기록했어요 ({워크스페이스}): {제목} (“Logged ({workspace}): {title}”).

When you log with the shortcut, any problem messages also come to you by DM.

Log with an @MashNote mention

Reply in the thread you want to log and mention @MashNote. Whatever you write after the mention is used as a memo for the summary.
On success, the MashNote app replies in that thread with 기록했어요 ({워크스페이스}): {제목} (“Logged ({workspace}): {title}”). Other people in the channel can see this reply.
If there’s a problem, you get a message only you can see.

A mention in the channel itself, outside a thread, isn’t logged. You see this hint, visible only to you: 스레드 안에서 멘션하면 그 스레드 전체를 기록해요. 기록할 스레드의 답글로 @MashNote를 멘션해 주세요. (“Mention me inside a thread to log the whole thread. Mention @MashNote in a reply to the thread you want to log.”)

Logged activity

AI summarizes the whole thread into one activity item. The MashNote workspace it’s recorded in is set by the Slack connection; you don’t pick one.
Activity logged from Slack comes in as Private. To share it with your team, change the item’s visibility in My Mash.
Each person can log the same thread only once. Colleagues can each log the same thread for themselves.
Summaries use the AI usage of the connected MashNote workspace. On the Free plan, nothing is logged once this month’s free AI usage is used up. See Plans and limits.

Troubleshooting

If you get one of these messages in Slack, here’s what to do.

A workspace admin needs to complete ‘Connect Slack’ in MashNote’s Workspace settings > Integrations.”)	Complete Connect Slack in Workspace settings → Integrations.
`연결된 MashNote 워크스페이스를 찾지 못했어요. 관리자가 워크스페이스 설정 > 연동에서 Slack을 다시 연결해 주세요.` (“Couldn’t find the connected MashNote workspace. An admin should reconnect Slack in Workspace settings > Integrations.”)	Run Connect Slack again in Workspace settings → Integrations of the MashNote workspace you want to record into.
`이 Slack 워크스페이스와 연결된 MashNote 워크스페이스의 구성원이 아니에요.` (“You aren’t a member of the MashNote workspace connected to this Slack workspace.”)	Ask an owner or admin of that MashNote workspace to invite you.
이 채널을 읽으려면 채널에서 `/invite @MashNote`로 봇을 초대한 뒤 다시 시도해 주세요. (“To read this channel, invite the bot with /invite @MashNote and try again.”)	Run `/invite @MashNote` in the channel, then log again.
`이미 기록된 스레드예요: {제목}` (“This thread is already logged: {title}”)	You already logged this thread. Check My Mash.
`이번 달 무료 AI 사용량을 모두 사용해 기록하지 못했어요. 매월 1일에 사용량이 초기화됩니다.` (“Couldn’t log because this month’s free AI usage is used up. Usage resets on the 1st of each month.”)	Wait for the reset on the 1st, or upgrade to the Plus or Business plan.
`요약 생성에 실패해 기록하지 못했어요. 잠시 후 다시 시도해 주세요.` (“Couldn’t create the summary.”) / `스레드를 불러오지 못했어요. 잠시 후 다시 시도해 주세요.` (“Couldn’t load the thread.”) / `기록 창을 열지 못했어요. 다시 시도해 주세요.` (“Couldn’t open the log dialog.”)	Try again in a moment.

Disconnect

Your Slack account: Select Disconnect in Personal settings → Integrations → Slack.
The Slack app install: The Slack card in Workspace settings has no button to remove the install. If you need it removed, contact us through Help & feedback at the bottom-right of the app.
