Sign up

MashNote offers two ways to sign up.

Sign up with email

1. On the sign-up page, enter your Email and Password. The password must be at least 8 characters.
2. You can leave Display name (optional) blank. You can change it later in Personal settings.
3. Select Sign up. The Check your email screen opens, and a verification email is sent to the address you entered.
4. Select the verification link in the email. When Email verified appears, select Go to login and sign in.

You can’t sign in before verifying

If you try to sign in before verifying your email, you see Email verification is required. Click the link in the email you received, or resend the verification email.

• If you can’t find the verification email, check your spam folder, then request it again with Resend verification email on the screen right after sign-up, or Resend on the sign-in screen.
• A verification link can expire or may already have been used. If Verification failed appears, request a new verification email from the sign-in screen.

Sign up with Google

On the sign-up page, select Sign up with Google. Selecting Sign in with Google on the sign-in page also creates your account right away the first time. When you sign up with Google, you can start immediately without a verification email.

What you get when you sign up

When you sign up, your first workspace is created automatically. It’s named after your display name, and you can rename it later. A new workspace starts on the Free plan. To compare plans, see Plans and limits.

Sign up with a trial-code link

If you received a sign-up link like …/register?code=… (for example, from an event), open the sign-up page with that link. The trial code in the link is applied automatically to your new account’s first workspace. You don’t need to type the code anywhere on the sign-up form.

When sign-up finishes, the result is shown:

• If the code was applied: Your {plan} trial is active until {date}. It's ready as soon as you log in.
• If it wasn’t: Your account was created, but the trial code wasn't applied: {reason}. Even if the code is invalid, your sign-up still completes, and the reason the code wasn’t applied is shown.

The code also applies if you select Sign up with Google from the same link. It doesn’t apply when you sign in with a Google account that already has a MashNote account. To enter a code after signing up and to learn the trial terms, see Trial codes.

Sign in

On the sign-in page, sign in the same way you signed up.

• If you signed up with email, enter your Email and Password.
• If you signed up with Google, select Sign in with Google.

Start from a workspace invitation

If a member sent you an invitation email, select the invitation link in the email. Invitation links are valid for 7 days. Depending on your situation, the invitation screen shows one of the following:

• If you don’t have an account yet: a sign-up form with the invited email filled in. Enter your Name and Password, then select Sign up and accept invitation. When you sign up through an invitation link, you can start right away without a separate verification email.
• If you’re signed in with the invited email: select Join workspace.
• If you’re signed in with a different email: select Log out and sign in with another account, then sign in with the account for the invited email.
• If you have an account but are signed out: sign in with the account for the invited email, then open the link in the invitation email again.

After you accept, the Notes screen opens and the workspace is added to the workspace list in your account menu.

Note

An invitation can only be accepted with the email address it was sent to. If Invitation unavailable appears, the link has expired or has already been used. Ask the person who invited you for a new invitation link.

Change your profile name

1. Select the avatar at the bottom of the navigation rail to open the account menu.
2. Select Settings to open Personal settings, then select the Account tab.
3. Edit Name under Profile, then select Save.

The new name appears across the app, including the account menu and the Start screen greeting. You can’t change your email address (Email can't be changed.).

Change or create a password

You manage your password on the same Account tab.

Accounts created with email — Change password

1. Enter your Current password, New password and Confirm new password. The new password must be at least 8 characters and different from the current one.
2. Select Change password.

Changing your password logs you out on other devices.

Accounts created with Google — Create password

Accounts created with Google show Create password with the note This account was created with social login. Creating a password lets you use both social and email login. Enter a New password and Confirm new password, then select Create password. From then on you can sign in with either Google or email.

Forgot your password or want to delete your account

The app has no password reset and no account deletion. If you need either, contact us with the Help & feedback button at the bottom-right of the app while signed in. If you can’t sign in and you signed up with Google, you can still sign in with Sign in with Google.
